African Civilians
It was for persons living on the African continent that ACHA was launched. The end goal of ACHA’s work is to ensure that the wellbeing of African civilians is promoted and protected in accordance with the key principles that define human welfare, such as the absence of structural or physical violence and the presence of inputs that lead to a healthy life, such as safe and nutritious food, protective shelter, quality health care, and accessible and relevant education.
Donors
ACHA’s donors respect the idea that African-based organisations should have ownership over their own self-determination and actions. Furthermore, they believe in the value that such organisations bring to humanitarian action on the continent.

Members
ACHA is a membership-based organisation. It serves to unite and enhance the capacities of African-based organisations working to better humanity on the continent. As such, its services are limited primarily to its members, as a means of ensuring that their needs are best met. Full membership in ACHA is open to Africa-based organisations whose mission is clearly tied to the enhancement of human welfare for peoples across the African continent. Observer membership is open to Africa-oriented organisations sharing the same mission. The purpose of full and observer membership status is to ensure that mutual respect and learning is optimised amongst entities working for similar missions. It recognises that both African and non-African organisations have unique perspectives regarding the challenges facing humanitarian efforts on the continent and that both entities can learn from one another. Partners
ACHA works with partners whose vision supports its work with African CSOs. Such organisations view African CSOs as true partners and valuable contributors to the process of enhancing human welfare on the continent. ACHA recognises and respects the experiences of its partners and values their contribution to enhancing the capacity of its members.
