ACHA’s mission statement and mandate are based on the belief that African CSOs can impact positively on the wellbeing of people living on the African continent. It is based on this knowledge that ACHA’s foundational values and principles have been formed.
African: ACHA is committed to being guided and defined by the interests of its members and their constituents.
Humanism: ACHA’s mission, mandate and provision of services are based on its belief that it be driven by a belief in the value of humanism. As such, ACHA subscribes to the humanitarian Code of Conduct
Independence: ACHA is independent from any form of political, economic or religious influence.
Participation: Participatory approaches will guide all aspects of ACHA’s work out of respect and appreciation for the interests of the vulnerable communities whose wellbeing ACHA seeks to benefit and its recognition of the criticality of its members’ input.
Partnership: ACHA believes that African CSOs can achieve greater efficiency and a greater space in the international realm if they unite to promote their cause. Therefore, fostering partnerships is one of ACHA’s core values. In all of its partnerships, ACHA is committed to the Principles of Partnership, as defined by the Global Humanitarian Platform
Professionalism: In order to optimise the use of its resources and to run its programmes in an efficient manner, ACHA sets high standards for its staff in the conception, implementation and monitoring of its activities. It also expects the same level of professionalism of its members in their activities and in their role as members of ACHA.
Respect and acceptance: ACHA works with stakeholders regardless of their race, creed, nationality, citizenship, political orientation or gender and without adverse distinction of any kind. Furthermore, ACHA respects and values the knowledge and experience of its stakeholders.
Transparency and accountability: As a duty towards its stakeholders, ACHA is committed to transparency and accountability in all aspects of its organisational actions.
